Terms of use

These terms explain the agreement between you and Ollinton Ltd when you create an account or use Eldervell. Please read them before using the service.

Who we are

Eldervell is a trading name of Ollinton Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 17060543). Registered office: 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom.

Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using Eldervell, you agree to these terms and our Privacy notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. Access may be restricted or invite-only while Eldervell develops. You must provide accurate account information, use your own Google account and keep that account secure.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Please contact us promptly if you believe it has been accessed without permission. You may not transfer your account to someone else or create an account for another person without our permission.

What Eldervell provides

Eldervell is a personal reading journal and library management service. Features may include book cataloguing, reading history, ratings, reviews, goals, planning tools, series tracking, recommendations and information supplied by third-party book services.

Eldervell is for personal, non-commercial use unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Your content

You keep ownership of the reviews, notes, ratings, tags, lists, images and other content you add to Eldervell. You give Ollinton Ltd a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process and display that content only as needed to operate, secure and support Eldervell for you. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for residual backup copies kept for a limited period.

You are responsible for the content you add and must have the right to use it. Do not upload unlawful material, personal information about someone else without a proper reason, or anything that infringes another person's rights.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • try to access another person's account, library or private information;
  • bypass an allowlist, access control, rate limit or other security measure;
  • probe, attack, disrupt or place an unreasonable load on Eldervell;
  • use automated tools to scrape or extract data without our written permission;
  • introduce malware or use Eldervell for unlawful, fraudulent or harmful activity; or
  • misrepresent your connection with Eldervell or Ollinton Ltd.

Book data and third-party services

Some book descriptions, covers and other metadata come from third-party services. That material may be inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable, and the relevant rights remain with its original owners. Links to other websites and services are provided for convenience. Their own terms and privacy notices apply when you use them.

Our service and intellectual property

Eldervell's software, design, branding and original content belong to Ollinton Ltd or its licensors. These terms do not give you a right to copy, sell, reverse engineer or reuse them except where the law allows it.

We may add, change or remove features as the service develops. We will take reasonable care in providing Eldervell, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free. Maintenance, faults and circumstances outside our reasonable control may affect access.

Your library, export and deletion

You can export your library from the user menu. Because no online service can guarantee permanent data preservation, we recommend keeping exports of anything important.

You can ask us to close your account and delete your information by emailing eldervell@ollinton.com. How we handle personal information and deletion requests is explained in the Privacy notice.

Suspending or ending access

You may stop using Eldervell at any time. We may suspend or close an account if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, if the account presents a security or legal risk, or if we are required to do so by law. Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to export your library.

If Eldervell is discontinued, we will aim to give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your library, unless urgent legal, security or technical circumstances make that impractical.

Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow that, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. If you use Eldervell as a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms, business losses arising from personal use of Eldervell, or losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Eldervell is a reading journal, not a professional advice service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when Eldervell, our business or the law changes. We will update the date at the top and give reasonable notice of material changes. If you do not agree to an updated term, you should stop using Eldervell and may ask us to close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory legal protections that apply where you live and may be entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts.
